Tours / Safaris8 Day Tour - Kruger Park, Swaziland & DrakensbergDay 1We depart JHB and head east towards Mpumalanga (place of the rising sun). En route we bypass the coal mining town of Witbank, after which we drive through the trout fishing towns of Belfast and Dullstroom. The scenic mountain road called Long Tom Pass finally leads us to our destination for the night, a town callled Graskop (Grassy Hill), situated on the Panoramic Route. After checking into your guest house and lunch, we visit God's Window, Bourke's Luck Potholes, Three Rondawels and Blyde River Canyon which offer some of the most spectacular views in the country. We enjoy dinner in a restaurant nearby before retiring for the night. Day 2After a leisurely breakfast we make our way down towards the Kruger Park, descending from an altitude of 6500 feet to 1000 feet! This dramatic drop also results in an increase of temperature and humidity. We stop en route at the Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre and join a fascinating tour of their animals and birds. We enter the Kruger at Orpen Gate and head towards Satara Camp which will be our base for the following 2 nights. For dinner we enjoy a barbeque under the stars, before falling asleep to the sounds of the African bushveld. Day 3Waking early and after a welcome cup of coffee we begin our search for the Big 5! Mid morning we break for a breakfast/brunch. We return to the camp around midday for a breather and afternoon nap, before venturing out on an official sunset/night drive. On return we enjoy dinner in the camp restaurant. Day 4Arising early again today we continue looking for animals. We head to a different camp for our last night in the Park. We enjoy a barbeque for dinner. Day 5Enjoy an early morning game drive or a late lie in. Today we leave the Kruger and make our way to Swaziland. In Swaziland we visit the Ngwenya glass factory and candle factory in the Ezulweni Valley. We spend the night in a luxury guesthouse. Day 6After breakfast we make our way towards South Africa's most majestic and rugged mountain range.. The Drakensberg (Dragon Mountains). We arrive around mid afternoon at the hotel where you will spend your last two nights. The afternoon is at your own leisure to enjoy the activities of the resort. Day 7Enjoy the activities around the hotel. Golf, Mountain walks, fishing etc. Day 8A 4 hour journey remains to Johannesburg. On the way we will pass the Sterkfontein Dam, from which water flows to the Vaal dam providing water to the Johannesburg region. End of the tour. Tour can be extended by 2 nights to include a stay at Fugitive's Drift lodge. Here you are treated to world class story telling on site, at the Battle of Isandlwana and Battle of Rorke's Drift, between the British and Zulus. |
